Some significant experiences and achievements till date are as follows.
Tena Kebena's overall mission is to enable citizens to free themselves from poverty and lead healthy productive lives by actively promoting and engaging in integrated organic sustainable rural &urban agriculture to educating the community on environmental, HIV/AIDS, gender and social issues.
The following are the main objective that the association is formed for.
TKGEM was conceived in 1993 E.C by two youth named Alemayehu and Desalegn by with the motivation to overcome the pollution, rubbish and all other problems in the local area. After passing many ups and downs it was managed to put the organization on the ground. There is a youth and resources center with books and computers donated from different organizations, a green house, medicnal plants and fruit trees which have been successfully established. The association has now 130 members and volunteers ranging from the ages of 5 to 80. These all are great resources that we would use and be of great importance to successfully maintain any project. Most of the team members are volunteers educated and have been working with and established different NGO’s. They have many experiences related with organizing trainings, workshops and also working with underprivileged societies. Common thing they have is that all work in and with TKGEM for the past several years which shows that they are passionate and devoted for the betterment of this community and organization, so even after this project ends, this members will still be working with this community. Our team members are great assets when it comes to the trainings because they would share their experiences and at the same time give some of the trainings. For instance TKGEM organized National Environmental youth volunteer in collaboration with American Embassy and Forum for Environment; and organized different events and trainings as listed below.
